She kept working consistently in the movies and also on British television throughout the 1990s, before she became famous with her lead roles in consecutive fantasy and action-adventure movies such as The Brothers Grimm (2005), 300 (2007), Tell-Tale (2009), and Dredd (2012). She was noticed when she performed in a school production at the Royal National Theatre when she was 17, and she was cast for a role in the movie Waterland (1992).
